BYD Dolphin previewed at BIMS 2023

BDY has officially launched the Dolphin EV in Thailand, after its previous performance in this country at the Exhibition Bangkok International Motor Show 2023. Two variants are offered in Thailand; Dolphin’s prices in the kingdom start from 699,999 baht (RM92,750) for the Standard Range, to 859,999 baht (RM113,889) for the Extended Range.

At 4,150 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, 1,570 mm high with a 2,700 mm wheelbase, the Dolphin is shorter but wider than one. Honda City Hatchbackalthough the EV is also 82mm taller and has a significantly longer wheelbase.

In the Standard Range version, the Dolphin has a single electric motor producing 94 hp and 180 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels and powered by a 44.9 kWh Blade battery. AC charging is supported up to 7 kW and DC fast charging up to 60 kW. The Standard Range variant is rated for a 0-100 km/h time of 12.3 seconds and has a maximum range of 410 km according to the NEDC protocol.

The more powerful Extended Range variant features a more powerful 204 PS/310 Nm motor and front-wheel drive, powered by a larger 60.48 kWh Blade battery that can be recharged with up to 7 kW AC output. and 80 kW DC. This speed increases from 0-100 km / h in seven seconds and goes up to 490 km after each full charge (NEDC). Both Standard Range and Extended Range variants offer vehicle-to-load (V2L) power supply functionality.

Exterior equipment for the Standard Range variant in Thailand includes 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 195/60R16 tires, McPherson strut front suspension and torsion bar rear suspension. The lighting system is LED headlights, taillights and daytime running lights.

Inside, the driver can start and enter the doors keyless, the 5-inch display screen while the infotainment settings are accessed via the 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen. Audio is from a six-speaker audio system, while Apple CarPlay is provided via a USB connection. Other USB connections are provided with two other ports in the center console and two for rear passengers.

Meanwhile, there’s also a 12-volt power outlet and synthetic leather seats. Automatic air conditioner with PM2.5 air filtration system.

For Malaysia, BYD Dolphin has been previewed late last year and the compact EV is expected to hit the Malaysian market in the fourth quarter of this year.
