Before the pandemic, my husband and I used to buy up to the maximum number of IHG points per year in a 100% bonus purchase point promotion. After all, IHG buy point promotions are no better than 0.5 cents per point and we could easily get more than 0.5 cents per point trying maximize IHG One Rewards redemptions.

It’s still easy to get 0.5+ cents per IHG point on multiple stays, and most IHG award bookings are flexible until just before your arrival date. So you can buy IHG One Rewards points now and get low reward rate for upcoming trips without much risk.

However, remember that IHG uses dynamic prize pricing. So although we still see the positive side of Dynamic prize pricing Given the low award night rates in many areas, prices and awards rates are likely to increase as travel demand continues to grow. And IHG may decide to change its prize pricing algorithm at any time to provide a lower redemption value.

Current IHG Points Sale offers members up to 100% bonus when purchasing IHG One Rewards points. You will need to purchase a minimum number of points to unlock the reward (for me, the minimum is 30,000 points).

You can only purchase 150,000 IHG points per calendar year. However, if you buy 150,000 points for $1,500 during this sale, you will receive a total of 300,000 points.

Note that point purchases are non-refundable and it can take up to 72 hours for the purchased points to appear in your account. Alternatively, you may have a different offer than reported above. Are IHG Scores Worth It?

This point deal is a surefire way to earn IHG points on the cheap. As I mentioned above, getting more than 0.5 coins per point value from your IHG One Rewards Points is now very easy.

For example, consider a weekend stay at Hotel Indigo Austin Downtown-University in Austin. For a two-night sample stay in January 2023 with free cancellation until arrival date, you can pay $465 or 63,000 points.

With a 100% bonus, you can get 64,000 IHG points for $320 and then redeem these points for a two-night stay. By doing so, you’ll get your two-night stay for $145 less than if you set the premium rate.

And if you qualify for a Wednesday night reward when paying with pointsyou can stay for four nights with the same score you need for a three night stay.

Review your upcoming travel plans to see if you can save money by buying IHG points instead of paying cash for your stay. If you can, buying points might be worth it.

How else can I earn IHG One Rewards points?

This point-of-purchase promotion isn’t the only way to earn IHG One bonus points.

For example, you can register IHG® Rewards premium credit card. In addition to the rich sign-up bonus offer, this card also offers other perks exclusive to IHG, including Wednesday night bonus privilege. This privilege will help you extend your IHG points even further When you exchange IHG points for stays of four nights or more.

You can also transfer points from Chase the ultimate reward for IHG One Rewards. However, I don’t usually recommend doing this. At last, TPG values Ultimate Rewards Points at 2 cents per point, which is 1.5 cents/point higher than the IHG score. As such, you will generally find more value when Transfer Points Final Rewards to other programs.

Bilt Rewards points also switch to IHG One Rewards. However, you will usually get better value from your Bilt Rewards when transferred to a higher value partner like American Airlines A Pros or Hyatt’s World.
