Budget 2023: Add lanes for PLUS in Johor, Senai Desaru Expressway; Road upgrade in Pahang, Melaka, N9
Malaysia’s revised 2023 budget is currently being presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in parliament and as usual we will focus on automobile and transport related matters.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, has outlined a list of roads and highways that will be upgraded. For highways, the PLUS North South expressway extends from Yong Peng Utara to Senai Utara will be upgraded from four lanes to six in phases and cost RM525 million. Also in Johor, the Senai Desaru to Pengerang Expressway will have an additional overpass.
The Prime Minister also mentioned a new road from Habu to Tanah Rata in Cameron Highlands, Pahang (RM480 million), an upgrade for Jalan Tun Hamzah to Semabok intersection at Lebuh AMJ in Melaka (RM300 million) and a road road/bridge over Sungai Sepang to connect Bukit Pelandok, Port Dickson and Sungai Pelek, Sepang (RM160 million).
