Buccaneers Sign Kyle Rudolph in the Post-Gronk . Era
It looks like Kyle Rudolph will at least be part of the equation when it comes to replacing Rob Gronkowski in Tampa . Bay.
Reports emerged late on Wednesday night that the veteran player had signed a one-year contract with the Bucs, after “Gronk” reiterated that his playing career was completed this week – despite what his girlfriend believes.
Rudolph, 32, spent last season with Giants in New Yorkand before that, he was twice selected for the Pro Bowl during his 10 years with Minnesota Vikings (2012, 2017).
Although Rudolph has been productive during his 11-year career, his statistical results are not as good as Gronkowski’s.
Even last season, which proved to be Gronkowski’s last, was roughly equivalent to Rudolph’s best season result. In 2016-17, Rudolph caught 83 passes that were 840 yards long and 7 points. In 2021-22, Gronkowski caught 55 balls for 802 yards and six points.
Gronkowski’s personal best year came in 2011-12, when he caught 90 passes of 1,327 yards and 17 points.
Rudolph – who had 26 tackles for 257 yards and one touchdown in 16 games last season (13 appearances) – never had a 1,000-yard receiving season. Gronkowski had four.
