The golf world’s most notorious feud will take center stage for the fifth edition of “The Match” taking place on Friday, November 26.

Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau will play 12 holes in Las Vegas to settle their feud once and for all. Well, supposedly anyway. The “match” began in 2018 between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, and since then, the competition has often been between two teams of one golfer and another famous golfer. For example, the fourth edition of “The Match” features DeChambeau and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers competing against Mickelson and Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.

The Koepka-DeChambeau feud may be over, especially after the two appeared to embrace and celebrate together following Team America’s win at the Ryder Cup at the end of September. Even if they do make up, hope Expect a lot of trash talk between these two golfers, especially given their history.

Here’s everything you need to know about when The Match 5 happens, along with how to watch and who you’ll hear on the broadcast.

Match golf format

DeChambeau and Koepka will be competing against each other for this edition of “The Match”. This format is similar to the Ryder Cup format, in which players will compete to shoot the lowest number of points per hole. Whoever shoots the lowest number of points into the personal hole, that person will be added to his score. If they tie into a hole, that hole will be halved. Whoever wins the most holes at the end of 12 holes wins.

The Match wallet 2021

DeChambeau and Koepka will compete over bragging rights, but they will also compete on philanthropy. Turner Sports announced that the event would raise money for the Advocates Pro Golf Association Tour and Feeding America, in addition to DeChambeau contributing to Shriner Hospital and Koepka contributing to St. Jude.

Additionally, there are certain loopholes on the course that allow DeChambeau and Koepka to compete to raise more money for the charities listed above. Here is a diagram of those competitive vulnerabilities.

  • Hole 3: Titled par four hole “DraftKings Closest to the Hole.” Whoever makes their tee shot closest to the hole will be able to donate $50,000 to the charity of their choice. If they land within 5 feet of the hole, you’ll get an extra $150,000. If one of the golfers has a hole in one, $2 million will be awarded more.
  • Hole 6: Titled par three “Wheels Up / Meals Up and Feeding America Closest to the Hole.” Whoever makes their tee shot closest to the hole will have 500,000 meals donated to Feeding America on their behalf. If they are within 5 feet of the pit, an additional 1.5 million meals will be donated. If they lose, 20 million food will be donated. 100,000 bottles of water will be donated by ZenWTR.
  • Hole 7: Titled par 5 hole “Capital One Venture X Long Drive Challenge.” Whoever hits the longest tee line outside the tee will receive $200,000 in the player’s name.
  • Hole 9: Titled par three “ZipRecruiter Closest to the Hole.” The same rules and results apply from hole 3 to this hole.
  • Hole 11: Titled par three “Wagoneer Closest to the Hole.” The same rules and results apply to hole 3 and hole 11 with this hole.

The only other version of “The Match” featured two golfers head-to-head (Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson in 2018) whose $9 million grand prize was awarded to Mickelson as the winner. On the other hand, three other versions of “The Match” have raised money for charity, raising nearly $30 million over the past few years.

However, DeChambeau and Koepka have a chance to increase their chances of making more money in the first year of the new PGA Tour initiative, Player Impact Program. This program awards $40 million to 10 different golf stars for the year based on fan engagement. Even without “The Match”, DeChambeau and Koepka could still get money from PIP due to their yearlong feud.
