Bryan Swears To Be A Nightmare For Dubois
Building a fight can often involve a recounted past, and Trevor Bryan decided to pick the worst moment of Daniel Dubois’ career.
Two strong candidates meet on June 11 in Florida for Bryan’s WBA belt. A win for either will put them in touch distance Oleksandr Usyk-Anthony Joshua 2 winner.
Bryan believes he can recreate the hell Dubois went through against Joe Joyce in 2020, which resulted in his first disqualification and broken eye socket. The young heavyweight received a wave of criticism afterward with many calling him a quitter.
“Daniel Dubois is a strong fighter, he has fought some good people, but I am on another level. You see that when he was up against some good opposition, he gave up, gave up,” Bryan said in a press release.
“You don’t give up, you don’t give up. I’d rather go out with my shield. He’s an okay guy, but he’s facing a nightmare, I’m going to be a nightmare for him not the fight he wants. Maybe he should go back and try to reverse the loss to Joe Joyce before being crowned champion.”
Bryan, who will defend his second belt, said Dubois ‘begged’ for a shot.
“He had it and now he has to pay for it. I’m not the kind of fighter that you can walk into the ring thinking you can beat me. I am not a heavyweight champion for no reason and on June 11 I will show everyone that I am a name you have to respect.
“I am a man who will stick with this sport for a long time. I’m taking over, so on June 11, you guys will see what Trevor Bryan, The Dream, has.”
