Mitch Louis-Charles 7-3-2 pitted middleweight Brian Ceballo 14-1 in Brooklyn in a scheduled eighth-round match at New York’s Sony Theater on Thursday night. Ceballo caught people early from the start. It was the start of eight long rounds for Louis-Charles. There’s not much to distinguish the early innings, except that Ceballo’s punches land well and Louis-Charles doesn’t seem to have many answers. With that said, a low hit sent Louis-Charles to the ring and kept him out of combat for several minutes in the fifth round. As the match continued, however, Ceballo legally placed Louis-Charles within seconds. Louis-Charles beat the count, but the fight was entirely up to Ceballo.

Indeed, Ceballo easily knocked out his worthy opponent in the sixth round. In fact, Louis-Charles appeared to be simply in survival mode at the time. The seventh table once again saw Ceballo being chased. The man is no doubt keen to score a knockout goal, but he still has the patience and professional discipline to chase victory before the final bell rings. The final round saw Louis-Charles try to hold on and move. Had he followed that strategy more aggressively earlier in the game, the game might have been a little different. Suffice it to say, Ceballo looked for his shots on his way to a unanimous decision victory with scores of 80-71, 79-72 and 79-72.
