Board: What chance does Anthony Yarde have against Artur Beterbiev in January?
Jamie Moore (Coach)
I definitely think he has a chance. Beterbiev is a phenomenal fighter, but I feel Yarde might have a style that would trouble him. Although the match ended quickly, Callum Johnson showed us that Beterbiev can be wounded but not invincible, and Yarde is smart and punches very hard.
Dave Allen (Strong contender)
I give Yarde a chance based on Beterbiev’s age and his time at 175, which I believe he will eventually catch up to. However, the difference in experience is huge and for that reason I believe that Betterbiev will win.
Wayne Alexander (Former European Super Welding Champion)
On paper, it looks like a clear win for Berterbiev, who has been competing at world level since 2017. Yarde has only played against one world-class opponent, Sergey Kovalev – an endeavor. bravery suggests he can at least match it with the best – but doesn’t seem to have changed his mind since his loss to Lyndon Arthur and looks more polished in his last three wins. I could see Yarde’s slick play making it difficult for Berterbiev early on before Arthur became strong in the later stages to win with an injury-time goal or unanimous decision.
Jake Limmond (Super Light Prospect)
I think Betterbiev stops Yarde. Yarde is a really good boxer, and he will always have a boxer’s chance, but I just think Beterbiev is a monster. I can’t see him getting hit any time soon.
