BMW i5 and 2024 BMW 5 Series G60 – M60 xDrive with up to 601 hp; AirConsole brings in-car gaming
The BMW Series 5 entered its eighth generation as G60and for the first time the nameplate is combined with a fully electric strip, the G60E bmw i5 parallel sedan, less than seven years since its debut G30 . 5th Generation Series in October 2016.

On the internal combustion engine side, the G60 5 Series launches with two four-cylinder mild-hybrid engines – one petrol and one diesel – across three variants at launch; 208hp 520i sedan and 197hp 520d sedan in RWD and xDrive AWD variants.
Other ICE variants not offered in Europe include the G60 530i and 530i xDrive for the US market, powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 255 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Available options are electronically controlled damping, new Integrated Active Steering and Vertical Dynamic Management, as well as Professional Adaptive M Suspension that also includes Active Roll Stabilization with Enjoy active scrolling.
The range of driver assistance features in the G50E i5 and G60 5 Series are led by the optional Professional Driving Assistant, including Steering and Lane Control and Distance Control Assist, with Stop function & Go. In markets where regulations allow (U.S., Canada and Germany), Highway Assist can ease the driver’s task of steering on structurally divided lanes highways at speeds up to 130 km/h.
BMW also claims the world’s first G60/G60E 5 series with the introduction of Active Lane Change Assist, with built-in eye recognition. Here, the vehicle can suggest a lane change, which the driver can confirm by looking in the exterior mirror to confirm the lane change. When traffic conditions permit, Active Lane Change Assist can automatically perform steering movements.
Also standard on the latest 5 Series is Parking Assist with Reverse Assist. When the Professional Parking Assist option is specified, automatic parking up to 200 meters can be controlled from inside the vehicle or by smartphone when used from outside the vehicle.
Information in the G60 and G60E 5 Series and i5 is handled through the dual widescreen curved display and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, featuring the latest BMW OS 8.5 (via BMW iDrive 8.5) has also begun rolling out to other models.
