BHA waives anti-doping requirements for JRA runners


The British Horse Racing Authority (BHA) has confirmed that horses trained by the Japan Horse Racing Association (JRA) are no longer subject to the BHA’s Anti-Doping Foreign Athlete requirements.

Under the BHA Racing Rules, in the absence of such an exemption, any foreign athlete intending to race in the UK must be in the country at least ten business days prior to the race and provide a sample for analysis. accumulated before being allowed to play.

After reviewing the JRA’s anti-doping rules and procedures, the BHA is pleased that Japanese runners should be exempt from these requirements, meaning any future trained runners of the JRA. JRAs can arrive in the country in less than ten business days as set out in the Law and will not be required to carry out the required sampling to qualify for the race.
