Bet winner Joe passes the two-way test at Laurel


Elkstone Group Hybrid Equity Winner Joe passed a surprise two-pass test on his 3-year-old debut, winning 2 and a half in a subsidized options claim contest on January 23 at Laurel Park.

Discarded by Victor Carrasco because of coach Mike Trombetta, Joe extended his winning streak to three in his first game since catching Laurel’s Maryland Juvenile Championship Stakes on December 18.

“We didn’t have the best continuity because of the weather and the track was going, so we missed a practice session all the way,” said Trombetta. “That’s my thinking; I’m a bit nervous about it. With a few races under him, he can do well.”
