A trio of masterpieces from Bentley’s Mulliner division have arrived at Bentley Kuala Lumpur and here’s a look at the top cars and the heightened luxury brought by Crewe’s bespoke division. The three creations are the Bentley Continental GT coupe, Flying Spur limousine and Bentayga Extended Wheelbase SUV.

First, a brief introduction. Described as the birthplace of coachbuilding, Bentley Mulliner is the oldest coachbuilder in the world. The company operates three separate divisions, each with its own area of expertise. ‘Coachbuilt’ offers customers the ability to work closely with a team of expert designers to create or enhance their car with unique bodywork, different materials and specially curated options – think Cod And Batur.

Mulliner’s ‘Classic’ division Recreate and restore iconic models from Bentley’s extensive archive. Finally, there’s ‘Collection’, which offers customers a range of derivatives that focus on the luxury of the core Bentley range, as well as the opportunity to personalise their new car. There are a range of options, from unique paint, leather and stitching combinations to custom feature content. This is what we’re focusing on today.

If the Continental GT Speed highlights the model Supercar performance levels and exotic dynamics To keep it all tied together, the Continental GT Mulliner is the remaining pillar, the flagship luxury model of the finest luxury GT line in production (the double mention of the ‘L’ is intentional).

The Mulliner Collection is defined by the ‘Double Diamond’ matrix grille that you can see on all three cars here. That grille statement – which contrasts beautifully with this example’s Black Velvet paint – is complemented by front fender ‘vents’ that feature the same motif and chrome Mulliner branding.

Other special touches that make up the ‘standard Mulliner Collections package’ (sorry for the crude description for a car with infinite customisation possibilities) include Satin Silver mirror caps with Mulliner welcome lamps hidden underneath and illuminated outer door sills with Mulliner lettering.

Those big shiny wheels, they’re 22-inch Mulliner products painted and polished in Tungsten that you won’t want to miss. The center badge of each 10-spoke wheel is self-leveling, keeping the iconic Bentley ‘B’ logo upright.

Inside, you’ll find a matching ‘Diamond within a Diamond’ pattern on the seats, door trims and rear tailgate, with both contrasting and accent stitching running across the design. Crazy fact: it took 400,000 stitches to create this quilted pattern across the entire cabin, with each diamond containing exactly 712 individual stitches – each stitch precisely aligned to target the centre of the diamond it creates!

This being a Bentley, we have to talk about leather and wood. The Mulliner Bespoke interior of this Continental GT is fully upholstered in leather (including the roof), in Portland and Burnt Oak. Hand-selected from cattle that graze at high altitude in Northern Europe, all the leather is natural and free of insect bites that can leave stains.

The Bentley KL has been specced with Grand Black Veneer for the cockpit front, and on the passenger side, there’s an unmissable overlay of the Continental GT silhouette with Mulliner branding. Wood ‘wraps’ the doors, and there’s a B logo at each end. A stark contrast to the dark black is the Diamond Milled technical finish on the centre console – stare long enough at this and you might just be mesmerised. This sumptuous coupe is yours for RM3,257,400 including tax, on the road without insurance.

At first glance, the Flying Spur Mulliner you see here appears to be the same black tone, but Onyx – the launch colour of the first-generation Continental Flying Spur Speed – uses a touch of deep blue, combined with darker tones to create “the deepest black finish you can imagine”.

All the Mulliner Collection specialities mentioned for the Continental GT – chrome front fascia with Double Diamond grille, matching front fender flares, silver mirror caps, welcome lights, door sills – are also present on the ‘the best car in the world’ (That’s Crewe’s wording, but it’s a solid claim), and it rides on the same 22-inch Mulliner wheels.

While these two look like Mulliner twins in different sizes, there are a few things that set the Flying Spur apart from the two-door, such as the Flying B emblem (with lights), the unique grille/bumper, and the high placement of the front wing trim. It’s a similar story inside, where you’ll find cream (Portland) and dark (Beluga) leather, but the latter is black instead of dark brown here. The same combination of Grand Black Veneer and Diamond Milled technical finish, plus Diamond-in-Diamond quilting.

A bonus for the four-door is the two VIP ‘picnic tables’, finished in Grand Black. The folding tables also feature a diamond-inspired chrome finish, which is actually a 2D mirror image of the 3D diamond-tech finish on the centre console.

Curiously, the Flying Spur has Hotspur Red accents throughout the cabin and on the brake calipers, something you might expect from a ‘sportier’ Continental GT. This demonstrates the customization potential of Mulliner, where anything can be incorporated. This example is priced at RM3,432,700 including tax, OTR excluding insurance.

The white knight of the Mulliner Collections family is the Bentayga EWB Mulliner, the new flagship luxury model from Bentayga extended wheelbaseAs the name suggests, it has a longer wheelbase (+180 mm) for more rear legroom and the option of Bentley Airlines Seat Specifications. Luxurious individual seats with 22-way adjustment, the world’s first automatic climate control system and advanced posture adjustment technology.

If the Bentayga feels different from the other two, it’s probably because of its pure white paint job in Blackline specification, which means all the bright exterior trim has been replaced with gloss black, including the door handles, headlight surrounds, exhaust pipes, bumper grille, roof rails and window surrounds, among other chrome details.

The only silver details remaining are the Double Diamond grille badges and elements. The wheels are 22-inch Mulliner items in black, with the self-levelling wheel badges rounding them out. Finally, the signature Mulliner Collection silver wing mirror caps have been overwritten by Blackline on this example. It’s a sportier and – some would say – more modern look for a Bentley.

The dark three-tone interior has a ‘Storm’ theme that combines Brunel and Beluga’s deep blue and black with white accents that act ‘like a bolt of lightning in the night sky’. The Grand Black Veneer is combined with a Diamond Milled Technical Finish again, with chrome inlays on the front passenger side and picnic table, according to the Flying Spur Mulliner. This luxurious on the outside, lavish on the inside limousine SUV is priced at RM3,321,200 including tax, OTR excluding insurance.

All three Mulliner Collection models seen here are powered by Bentley’s 4.0-litre V8 engine, which produces 550PS and 770Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,500rpm. The twin-turbocharged engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the 0-62mph time is 4.0 seconds for the Continental GT, 4.1 seconds for the Flying Spur and 4.6 seconds for the Bentayga EWB – incredible figures when you consider the size and weight of these fully-equipped land yachts. All three feature Bentley Dynamic Ride, and both limousines are fitted with electronic four-wheel steering.

For audio, the four-door models get Bang & Olufsen speakers while the Continental GT boasts a top-of-the-line Naim for Bentley system with 20 channels – 18 speakers and two ‘shakers’ – and a 2,200-watt amplifier. To sum up the range of Mulliner personalisation, check out the wooden box below – forget Burr Walnut and Connolly Leather for the gentlemen, you can now have stone finishes, carved wooden door cards and tartan to match your favourite jacket.
