Bentley Continental GT Speed now available in Malaysia – the most dynamic ever; W12 with 659 PS, 900 Nm; from RM1,135 million
The new Bentley Continental GT Speed is now available in Malaysia. Crewe describes the latest version of the Speed - the performance flagship of the Continental GT family – as the most dynamic road car in its 101-year history.

Additionally, Bentley’s iconic 6.0-litre, twin-turbo, W12 engine produces 659 PS of power and 900 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 5,000 rpm at Speed. All those twists and turns helps you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a smooth 3.6 seconds and if enough road is available, this grand tourer is capable of reaching 335 km/h. While the old Speed came with a torque-converting automatic transmission, the Mk3 GT has replaced that transmission with a ZF eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, with software re-tuned for Speed. allows it to shift gears twice as fast in Sport mode, while holding shifts longer and downshifts faster to keep the W12 within its power range. The Speed also boasts “greater discharge characteristics” at start-up and downshifting.

For the first time in a Bentley, an electronic rear differential increases lateral grip, improves stability and enhances throttle control. Crewe claims that the Active AWD’s traction control and torque distribution system has been recalibrated in all modes to give it a distinct character from the regular Continental GT. Sport mode has been calibrated with a more rear-biased torque split in all driving situations.
There’s also Bentley’s three-chamber active air suspension with adaptive damping and Bentley Dynamic Ride. The second is a 48V active anti-roll control system that has electric motors inside each anti-roll bar to prevent tilt. In the most stable mode, the engine can deliver 1,300 Nm of torque in 0.3 seconds to counteract the force of cornering and keep the body balanced. All of this combines to create a “level of agility unlike any other Bentley road car”.
Alternatively, the Speed’s ESC can be turned off, but before you do anything foolish, remember that you need 900 Nm of torque control in a large vehicle that weighs almost 2.3 tons.
That’s because the Speed isn’t a particularly light car, but rather the biggest touring car equipped with all the luxuries it can (and then some, like the rotating central display). three surfaces/triple gauges/digital decontamination drum wood panel) and luxuriously covered with leather and veneers.
A Bentley is highly customizable to your liking, but let’s talk about this particular unit designated by Bentley Kuala Lumpur. Very modern with a Cambrian Gray paint job, a variation on the “Nardo Gray” trend that Audi started a long time ago. This is a Speed, so of course there’s no chrome – instead, the gray contrasts with the glossy black trim of the standard Blackline Specification. Basically, the only details that aren’t gray or black here are the Flying B badges on both ends, the Bentley text on the trunk, and the large brake calipers painted in bright red. So are the taillights, of course. Oh, and there are tiny Speed badges on the front wings.
It’s easy to miss, but check out the carbon fiber front splitter, side sills, rear diffuser and rear spoiler of the Optional Styling Specification package. The real CF (of course!), is polished and has the Bentley logo mounted on the side sills. Park carefully. Overall, it’s a very youthful look for a Bentley – what do you see? As for myself, I like a bit of chrome, especially on the Bentley.
By the way, if you are wondering how to know W12 Speed from let’s say, V8 with black line and Styling Packs; look for the oval exhaust tips (W12 only, four for V8) and the number ’12’ just behind the front wheels, indicating the number of cylinders under the hood.
The sporty theme is also evident in the cabin, with Hot Spur and Beluga colors – essentially red on a black background. The red leather is the contrast, and it can be found on the steering wheel, gear lever, along the center console and doors, plus all the stitching and piping. My favorite red part is the continuous line on the top of the dashboard and doors, surrounding the cabin.
The wood veneer here is finished in piano black, with a Speed badge on the passenger side. ‘Speed’ is also embroidered on all four headrests. The Naim sound system on this car is the 2,200W top option, the 18 speakers are on the standard 650W Bang & Olufsen system and the 1,500W average.
Bentley is famous for its diamond quilt and the ‘diamond in diamond’ pattern that can be found on the seats and door tags. To finish, here’s one you know. Hand-picked from herds of cattle that graze high above sea level in Northern Europe, all the leather used to wrap the Continental GT is naturally free of insect bites that can leave a mark on the skin.
