Belmont Park Spring/Summer Encounter Issue Announced


The New York Racing Association on July 12 announced that Belmont Park spring/summer meeting generated $13,437,509 in average daily processing. With this year’s 2% increase from 2021, the average daily visitor count at the spring/summer meeting in Belmont Park has increased by 23.1% since 2019.

The handlebars on the road for spring/summer 2022 totaled $57,531,001, up 16.6% from the 2021 figure of $49,343,664.

The total handling of all sources for the 44-day spring/summer meeting is $591,250,409, compared with $632,208,251 in 2021, when the meeting runs for 48 days.

The average field size for the meeting’s 419 races was 7.35, down 3.6% from the 2021 average of 7.62. The 2022 spring/summer meeting saw 233 races on the ground and 186 races on the grass, while 26 races were forced off the field because of the weather.
