BBC’s Fake Climate Check – Frustrated with that?
DECEMBER 24, 2021
By Paul Homewood
The BBC is ending the year with another mock climate check, recap for 2021:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/features/59746499
The introduction on the website tells us all we need to know. The video has nothing to do with “facts”, but just climate propaganda.
It includes the following events, which I mentioned individually during the year:
- Canadian heat wave
- Flooding in British Columbia
- Flooding in China, India and Australia
- Hurricane Ida
- Floods in Germany
- Wildfires in Greece
- Drought in East Africa
There is a common sense nonsense about global warming that is making all of this worse. But no data was provided to suggest that any of these events were remotely unprecedented or that they were part of a worsening trend.
Indeed, you can think of a similar number of “remarkable events” for pretty much every recorded year.
In Greece, for example, there have been many years of similarly severe wildfires, and last summer’s double forest fire occurred in 2007.

A few months ago, I wrote a summary of the world’s extreme weather 50 years ago in 1971:
Well worth re-reading, but here are just a few of the long list of notable weather events that year:
- Drought in the Sahel
- Drought in India and China
- Drought in Texas and Florida
- Wildfires wreak havoc in the US
- 100,000 people died in N floods in Vietnam
- Major floods in Australia
- Tornado Orissa
- Massive floods in the US
- Tropical Storm Doria
- Hurricane Edith, Cat 5 makes landfall in Nicaragua
- Montreal’s “Snowstorm of the Century”
- Huge blizzards in Texas
Any of these can legally be included in this year’s Climate Test.
I’ve also researched the 1961 Repository again now and will post it up in a day or so. I promise you that year was just as extreme!
Mea Culpa!
There’s a brief caption in Ben Rich’s video where he talks about this year’s Madagascar drought, but mostly apologetic that scientists now say this has nothing to do with climate change. Queen.
As we all know, there have been several similar droughts in the past, so it doesn’t take a genius to solve this problem.
Given that exactly the same thing applies to the rest of his list, maybe we can expect a similar apology next month?
Political propaganda or truth?
Ben Rich makes the purpose of his video very clear with this closing statement:
“The year 2021 has focused on the impact of extreme weather on the peoples of the world.
Limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius was at the top of the agenda at COP26 in Glasgow, with scientists calling on world leaders to commit to GHG cuts to prevent climate disaster”
