BBC worried about climate skepticism among Kenyan farmers – Are you excited about it?

It’s hard to describe the extent of the BBC’s decline.

Climate change deniers have found a new champion in Kenyan farmer Jusper Machogu. On social media, he’s known as a fossil fuel pioneer in Africa, but there’s more to his campaign than meets the eye.

At first glance, 29-year-old Machogu is just a young farmer with a knack for social networks.

On X, formerly Twitter, he regularly posts videos of himself weeding the land, planting garlic or picking avocados – giving viewers a glimpse into life in rural Kisii, southwestern Kenya.

While content on agriculture may bring him clicks, likes and retweets, Mr. Machogu’s denial of man-made climate change has helped boost his online profile.

Since he began posting debunking theories about climate change, he has received thousands of dollars in donations – some of which have come from individuals in Western countries involved in Fossil fuel interests.

Mr Machogu insisted this did not affect his views and said they were indeed correct.

Scientists have proven it that the Earth is warming because of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere when we burn fossil fuels – like oil, gas or coal.

But Mr. Machogu did not agree.

“Climate change is mainly natural. A warmer climate is good for life,” Mr. Machogu falsely claimed in a tweet posted in February, along with the hashtag #ClimateScam (which he has used hundreds of times).

The BBC disinformation expert then went on to write an extremely long “hit piece,” which was itself filled with BBC disinformation. I didn’t even bother reading it – it was the kind of teenage trash the Former Sixth would write. In particular, it investigated the small amount of money Mr Machogu had raised.

The whole point of the article is of course to condemn any African who has the audacity to want to use fossil fuels.

Machogu responded strongly with a series of posts on Twitter:

But what I find most disgusting is why the BBC wants to bring this man down. Is he a threat to their worldview?

The BBC’s attitude is one of eco-colonialism – Africa must do what we tell them to do, whether they want it or not.

So here are three charts that back up almost everything Machogu is campaigning on and show how disgusting the BBC article is:

Why Africans are denied some of the benefits that we in the West enjoy is something only the BBC can answer.
