I’m not sure why Batman is back not widely recognized for Christmas movie That’s right, and I think it’s time we change that. The genre is richer than what people appreciate; it contains a lot more movies than the usual selection, like die hard or Santa Claus. There are many classics that we often overlook, such as The accident and Ringing bells all the wayand of course by Tim Burton Batman is back.
In our latest Jalopnik Seizures current, Steve and i tried to convince Andy that the 1992 sequel to Batman really a Christmas movie. Even placing Tim Burton’s Obsessions Yuletide season aside, the movie is so close that we can come up with a live-action Christmas special set in Gotham City.
Well, Tim Burton’s taste in color (as well as by Danny Elfman point) might be part of the reason people forget the setting is around Christmas, because the director likes to use the cold winter months as a backdrop to the point where it gets us lost.
But the tragic intro that follows abandoned baby Oswald Cobblepot—AKA the Penguin—through Gotham’s sewers is also likely the reason most people overlook the film’s Christmas setting, this becomes painfully obvious in the scenes that immediately follow. You know, when that giant bow-shaped gift exploded with minions on stilts and dirt bikes.

Batman does a brief job of these bad guys after appearing from the batcave in second best threeT Mobile. Batman even famously burned one of his minions (a lot for your rules, Bruce) so it’s easy to forget that this mayhem only happened during a tree-lighting ceremony.
But there are countless other examples: Alfred went shopping for Christmas presents; Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne kiss under the mistletoe; bats wake up after nesting on that huge Christmas tree; a young Christopher Walken plays the murderous Ebenezer Scrooge. You will get points.
Oh, and can you believe the Penguin is said to be just over 33 years old in the movie? It’s neither here nor there, but it’s just another example of the little details left out in this excellent Christmas movie, quite possibly one of the best. about Batman, only inferior Illusion mask.
Looking back, this is clearly a Christmas movie. So add it to your list this year and enjoy the glory of a Cloaked Crusade Christmas.
