FC Barcelona led by Xavi Hernandez will travel to Madrid on the opening weekend, where they will face Rayo Vallecano, who completed a league double against Barca last season.

Barcelona have signed four new players to contract ahead of their opening home game of the season against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, a La-Liga source has revealed to Reuters.

Midfielder Franck Kessie, defender Andreas Christensen and forwards Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha are now available to face Rayo Vallecano, although Jules Kounde still needs clearance.

Barca had to meet LaLiga’s salary cap to sign up for new signings but some “economic leverage” including new investments released funding after the last lever was activated.

Barcelona will have to release so-called huge salaries to sign 23-year-old French defender Kounde.

LaLiga’s restrictions also affect players who renew their contracts for the upcoming season but striker Ousmane Dembele and defensive midfielder Sergi Roberto have also now been signed up.

Barcelona has been using a number of mechanisms to increase revenue in order to cover losses, reduce debt and implement LaLiga’s financial fair play rules.

The club said on Friday it had sold a 24.5% stake in its audio-visual studio to production company Orpheus Media for 100 million euros ($102.58 million) to raise funds.

Last month, Barca signed an agreement with digital fan token company Socios.com to sell their 25% stake in Barca Studios.
