Asian Cup “Crazy” for Virat Kohli after long break: Former Indian smasher
Indian star Virat kohli will be in action after a long break at the upcoming Asian Cup in the UAE. The 33-year-old former captain of the Indian team has been hampered by poor form. Kohli has been rested for the West Indies white ball series, as well as the ongoing ODI series against Zimbabwe. Amidst the uncertainty of his place in the team, the former India player Aakash Chopra feels that while Kohli is a phenomenal smasher, he needs to score, especially with the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia later this year.
“Regarding his (Virat Kohli) place in the Indian team, that question did not arise until now. But nothing hides the fact that he needs to score. He did not play. so much international cricket since last year’s T20 World Cup. He’s only played four T20Is since,” Chopra said on Star Sports’ ‘Game Plan’ show.

Chopra also said that the Asian Cup could be a successful tournament for Kohli.
“He’s a phenomenal player, perhaps one of the best the world has ever seen, but there’s a point where his runs, contributions and performances become the picture. If you are beating in 3rd place for India, then no. “It doesn’t matter who it is, you have to score. If you are talking about the team philosophy, with that perspective and with the T20 World Cup in mind, then this Asian Cup after the long break will be very important for Virat Kohli,” he added.
