Apple just released an update for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with bug fixes and security improvements

Apple on Monday released several software updates for its various hardware products, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, HomePodAnd apple tv.

The updates are iOS 16.3.1, iPadOS 16.3.1, MacOS 13.2.1, WatchOS 9.3.1, HomePodOS 16.3.2, and tvOS 16.3.2, and include a number of bug fixes and security improvements.

When checking for updates on iPhone 14 Pro MaxI got the following changelog:

• iCloud settings may become unresponsive or display incorrectly if apps are using iCloud.
• Asking Siri for Find My may not work.
• Optimize Crash Detection on iPhone 14″ And iPhone 14 Pro model.

Incident detection improvements are sure to be of interest to emergency services and call centers, as there have been numerous reports of erroneous 911 calls in incorrect incident detection situations – – such as when skiing or even ride a roller coaster.

Included in the release notes, there is a link to Apple security updates website, where the company lists any security issues addressed in each update, and there appear to be two vulnerabilities patched in the update.

The first allows an application to execute code with kernel privileges. The second security issue fixed was using web content to execute arbitrary code, and Apple noted that it could have been actively exploited.

You can download and install the updates for free now. On iPhone, iPad and Mac, that’s done through the Settings app below General > Software Update. The HomePod is updated through the Home app, while the Apple Watch is updated through the Watch app on your iPhone.
