ACT Police have arrested their second drink-driver in a month, after an Audi RSQ3 driver allegedly returned a blood-alcohol level test result nearly eight times higher than what he expected. legal limits.

Just after 10am on Saturday June 10, the driver of RSQ3 allegedly crashed and left the road on Melrose Drive in Hughes.

The 55-year-old male driver remained at the scene and was transported to hospital after ACT Police officers believed he was highly intoxicated.

A blood sample taken from the driver allegedly returned a blood alcohol level of 0.392 – almost eight times the 0.05 limit for fully licensed drivers.

The man’s driving license was immediately suspended and he was summoned to court to face a charge of drink driving at a date yet to be determined.

In the ACT, a level 4 drink driving offense (with a BAC of 0.15 or more) can result in a fine of up to $2400, a six-month license suspension and even nine months in prison.

In the first day of this monthanother 36-year-old Canberran returned a BAC of 0.443 after a breath test, a level described by ACT Policing as “near fatal”.

The man was given a 90-day suspension notice and will appear in court at a date to be determined.
