In a new statement to NBC News, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Jeff Lee confirmed that the August 5 incident involved Actress Six Days, Seven Nights—The person remains in “extremely critical condition” at the hospital — being investigated as a felony DUI traffic collision.
Lee told the newspaper that her preliminary blood test “indicated the presence of drugs”, although authorities could not comment on the “presence of cocaine, fentanyl or alcohol at this time. .” The specifics will be determined by an additional second test to “rule out any substance/drug used in the hospital,” according to Lee. The inspection process can take up to 30 to 90 days.
LAPD officials also offered further explanation as to why Heche’s case is currently being considered for a felony charge, saying it was because the 53-year-old Emmy winner crashed into a house – resulting in it catching fire – when a woman was inside.
