Andy Ruiz Jr vs Luis Ortiz confirmed on September 4 in Los Angeles
Former world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr (34-2, 22 KOs) will face longtime rival Luis Ortiz on September 4 in Los Angeles.
The fight takes place at Crypto.com Arena and will be shown live on FOX Pay-Per-View in America. No underline details have been announced so far.
Ruiz has been linked with several opponents since his last time win Chris Arreola 13 months ago. The 32-year-old was nominated in the July 16 Triller Pay-Per-View match against Tyrone Sprong, but an agreement was signed for the fight with Ortiz.
Ortiz (33-2, 28 KOs) has won two straight games against Alexander Flores and Charles Martin, since a rematch defeat to Deontay Wilder in November 2019. The Cuban has been ordered to face Filip Hrgovic in the final elimination match of the IBF after his win over Martin on January 1 but a hand injury prevented him from facing Croat.
Ruiz also had injury problems when he had knee surgery three months after beating Arreola.
Both boxers have the highest ratings in three of the four governing bodies. In the IBF top 10, Ortiz is currently in second place, with number one vacant. Ruiz has the highest position on the board as fifth with WBC.
