American Express’s Business Green Rewards card may offer value to some cardholders, but overall, its benefits are lackluster. If you’re looking to win travel rewards, you’ll be much better off with one of Amex’s other personal or business card services. Card rating*: ⭐⭐

In 2019, Amex refreshed its Green Business Rewards Card. When it was first relaunched, the lucky thing about the card was that it came with a potentially lucrative welcome offer. However, now that the offer has passed, the card is no longer attractive.
It has an annual fee of $95 and a suggested fee credit score of 670.
In my opinion, most business owners will get more benefit from other Amex business cards.

Amex Business Green welcome offer
Amex Business Green is offering 25,000 points after you spend $3,000 in the first three months.
This is an OK bonus worth $500, according to TPG’s valuation. However, it pales in comparison to some high-value products Corporate credit card incentives available now.

Green benefits of Amex business
Unfortunately, Amex Business Green also lacks benefits and perks.
Where other Amex Membership Rewards cards are known for annual statement credits and other travel benefits, Business Green doesn’t offer anything along those lines.
Amex Business Green offers a portfolio of standard Amex business tools that can help you manage your business finances. For example, you can integrate your Amex account with Quickbooks to easily track and label expenses. You can also assign an account manager to access your account and even pay your bills through Amex Payment Providers through Bill.com.
These benefits are valuable to any business owner but are standard for most Amex business cards.

Earn points with Amex Business Green
With Amex Business Green, you’ll earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar on qualifying purchases made through amextravel.com, plus one additional point per dollar on all purchases buy another.
That’s a disappointing rewards structure, even for a card with a lower annual fee.
The reward structure is similar to most basic airline co-branded card (although many of them have recently added new bonus categories beyond travel).
Since TPG values Amex points at 2 cents each, the returns are a bit higher than your typical airline card. But if you spend enough on travel to make this rewards structure worth it, perhaps you should consider another Amex offer.

Redeem points with Amex Business Green
One thing this card offers is earning Membership Rewards points. With Amex, you can redeem points for travel, gift cards, statement credits, Amazon purchases, and some online retailer purchases. However, you only get the best value when redeeming travel rewards.
You can redeem points through the Amex travel portal, but you won’t receive the same points Pay with points discounts like you do with Business Platinum.
Transfer points with Amex Business Green
Amex has an extensive list of transfer partners, including leading airline and hotel brands. You can transfer your Membership Rewards points instantly at 1:1 value with any of these partners and Amex Regularly run transfer bonuses where you can transfer funds to several partners at even more attractive rates.

Bottom line
Business Green is stuck in a no-man’s land between Amex’s more valuable business credit card and its no-annual-fee Simple card offerings. If you don’t spend enough on travel to get your money’s worth with Business Green, you’ll be better off with one of Amex’s other business card services.
