Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai received total compensation of $226 million in 2022, the majority of which came from stock awards, according to the stock report filed by the company on Friday.
Pichai was awarded $218 million in stock last year through a triennial stock grant. His annual salary is $2 million from 2020 to 2022, the filing states. The CEO’s compensation package also includes nearly $6 million for personal security by 2022.
According to the filing, other key Alphabet and Google executives earned between $22 million and $35 million in stock bonuses annually.
The report comes as Alphabet is initiating cost restructuring measures, including layoffs in January eliminated 12,000 workers, or 6% of the workforce. Google’s chief financial officer, Ruth Porat, announced in early April that the company would be cutting back on employee laptops and services to further reduce costs.
