PayPal 8 said it wasn’t implementing a new policy that could allow the company to expropriate funds from users accused of promoting “misinformation” or “hostility.”

“An AUP notice was recently issued due to an error that included incorrect information. PayPal doesn’t penalize people for misinformation, and this language was never intended to be included in our policies,” a PayPal spokesperson told Epoch Times in an email.

“Our teams are working to fix our policy pages. We apologize for the confusion this has caused,” the spokesperson added.

Company in September announced that it is modifying the accepted use policy or AUP.

The policy, which will go into effect in November, states that users may not use PayPal to “send, post, or publish any message, content, or material that, in PayPal’s sole discretion, (a) harmful, pornographic, harassing or objectionable, (b) depicts or appears to depict nudity, sex or other intimate activities, (c) depicts or promotes illegal drug use legally, (d) depicts or promotes violence, criminal activity, cruelty or self-harm (e) depicts, promotes or incites hatred or discrimination against groups protected or of individuals or groups based on protected characteristics (e.g. race, religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.) (f) posing a risk to safety or health of users, (g) defraud, promote false or illegal information, (h) violate the privacy, intellectual property rights or other proprietary rights of any party any, or (i) unfit for publication.

For each breach, PayPal says the user must bear the consequences. These include “alcohol damages” of $2,500 per violation. Money will be taken directly from one’s PayPal account.

Paypal is considered by many to have woken up, climate alarm anti-conservative organ. It’s bad enough to shut down and disrupt the operations of law-abiding groups that entered an agreement with Paypal in good faith, but arbitrarily “penalizing” those who hold the view that Paypal considers misinformation. would be an even heavier attack on freedom of speech and freedom.

WUWT will monitor this issue. Paypal declares a clear threat to people arbitrarily “fining” that their views are disinformation, all of which is a huge misunderstanding, but honestly, I don’t trust them.
