Junior is based on the same Stellantis eCMP2 Architecture like the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600, neither were planned for the U.S. All three were ideally sized for Europe, but quite small for the U.S. At 164 inches long, the Junior is about 14 inches shorter than the Alfa Romeo Color The plug-in hybrid is the current entry-level model of this American automaker’s car.

The architecture can accommodate both internal combustion and all-electric powertrains, and the Junior will be sold as both an EV and a mild-hybrid in Europe. But the only version being considered for the U.S. is the Junior Veloce, the most powerful all-electric version, according to Automotive News Europe.

In Europe, the single-motor Junior Veloce produces 281 horsepower, accelerates from 0-62 mph in 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 124 mph. It’s unclear how the Junior will be priced in the United States, but in Italy it will be starting at 52,000 euros including shipping and a 22% sales tax, according to Automotive News Europe. The equivalent price in the United States would be around $42,000.

The Junior may have a price advantage over two other small premium electric cars—the 2025 Mini Cooper Electric and the 2025 Volvo EX30—because it’s made in Poland rather than China. That means it’s subject to just a 2.5% tariff, compared to the 102.5% tariff on Mini and Volvo, Automotive News Europe notes. That advantage may be temporary, however, as rivals adjust their plans to account for the tax. Volvo has EX30 US launch postponed until next year due to tariffs, when the company moved production from China to Ghent, Belgium.
