Alaska Airlines to Launch Service to La Paz and Monterrey, Mexico

Alaska Airlines is strengthening its footprint in Mexico with two new direct flights launching in the winter.

In November, the Seattle-based airline will launch service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to La Paz International Airport (LAP). With up to three round trips per week, Alaska says it will be the only U.S. carrier serving La Paz, the capital of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. The city is located about 100 miles north of the popular resort of Los Cabos.

Then, in February, Alaska will begin daily nonstop flights from LAX to Monterrey International Airport (MTY), joining several other airlines serving the city from the United States.

Route details

Here are the details on the two new routes Alaska will launch:

  • LAX-LAP — launching November 20, operating two to three times a week
  • LAX-MTY — launched February 13, 2025; active daily

Both routes are operated by Embraer E175 aircraft, featuring 12 first class seats, 16 Alaska premium class seats and 48 main cabin seats.

Monterrey service

By launching service to Monterrey, Alaska will join several U.S. and Mexican airlines operating nonstop service from that city to the United States.

The “Big Three” US airlines (American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines) all operate flights from Monterrey to their hubs. There is also a direct flight by Aeromexico to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), the home base of joint venture partner Delta.

La Paz Services
