I’ve always joked that I would live my life in a suitcase if I could. While it’s theoretically impossible with the state of my wardrobe, I’ve come as close as I can. After 24 years of longer road trips and more miles than a Victorian kid could imagine, I’ve perfected the art of packing thanks to thoughtful, smart outfit choices that will last me in a week and a half fit a carry-on suitcase.
Since the worldwide shutdown almost two years ago, 2022 is a year back to travel for me. In total, I spent over 150 hours traveling, including going to Japan to see family, meeting friends in Spain, and doing trips throughout California and New York. If I didn’t pack into a science at this point, I don’t know how I would.
With the current number of airlines rerouting and baggage delays, no one needs to stress more when packing for a weekend trip if yours goes missing. While that hasn’t happened to me yet (hands on!), the number of horror stories I see on social media has prompted me to start packing enough clothes for a few days that I always carry with me. .
