About H. Douglas Lightfoot:
Born in Vancouver, BC, he graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1952, and received his MBA from Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, in 1976. He had eighteen. years with Domtar Inc. The Research Center in Senneville, Quebec, works on research, engineering and economic research on a variety of projects for the pulp and paper, chemical and building materials, and alternative energy businesses.
Prior to joining Domtar, he spent one year as a Business Analyst and five years as a Design Engineer designing, building and launching chemical plants in Canada’s Dupont, Montreal, Quebec. Prior to that, twelve years project engineer at Standard Chemical Limited, Beauharnois, Quebec.
He is a retired member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec, Professional Engineers of Ontario, and a Longtime Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
He was a member of the Global Center for Environment and Climate Change (GEC3) and its predecessor at the McGill University branch, Montreal, Quebec for 23 years until its closure in 2015. He wrote and contribute to reports published for the Center on various energy-related topics.
Since retiring, he has co-founded the Lightfoot Institute, which has published dozens of papers on energy and the role of CO2 in the atmosphere, and reviewed more than 250 articles for energy journals.
He views his current energy work as community service to guide people to understand the importance of energy to our society and make the right decisions to ensure energy supply. complete and reliable.
