Air Canada launches new summer route from Montreal to Amsterdam


A new direct flight Montreal ARRIVE Amsterdam The route will take off this summer thanks to a strong increase in European tourism demand, Canadian Airlines announced.

Canada’s national airline will fly Boeing 787 Dreamliners from the country’s second largest city to the popular Dutch capital five times per week from June 2 to October 14.

The route will depart from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) at 22:10 (local time) Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, arriving at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS). at 11:00 the next day. The journey will take a total of about six hours and 50 minutes.

Flights from AMS will depart at 2pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, arriving at YUL at 3:30pm on the same day.

Air Canada already offers year-round non-stop routes to Amsterdam from Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) and one-stop routes from YUL, with a stop at YYZ or Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany.

“We continue to see strong travel demand to Europe and we are excited to enhance our service and add new, non-stop service between Montreal and Amsterdam for the summer of 2023, complementing our year-round service between Toronto and the Dutch capital,” the airline’s senior vice president of network planning, Mark Galardo, said in a statement.

“With daily flights doubling between Canada and Amsterdam this summer from two of our global hubs, customers on both sides of the Atlantic have countless convenient options for sightseeing and explore each other’s countries and more. Customers can start planning ahead and book with confidence,” Galardo added.

Air Canada now has its own Aeroplan loyalty program and is a founding member of star alliance along with Lufthansa, Swiss, Thai Airways and United Airlines.

If you plan to fly this route, you should know that you can now access the Star Alliance lounge at AMS with pay-as-you-use access — not just if you are a Gold member.

It should also be noted that KLM offers direct flights from Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Calgary International Airport (YYC) to AMS. The carrier is a member of SkyTeam, can now be very useful for Flying Club members to collect Virgin points.
