After killing thousands of dogs for consumption, the dog meat slaughterhouse is closed

For so many of us dog lovers in the United States, our canine companions are both close friends and beloved family members. But in other cultures, dogs are sometimes captured, killed, and then consumed. This not only puts innocent animals at risk, but also spreads rabies like crazy.

So shutting down a dog slaughterhouse in Vietnam is a huge win for International Humane Society.

We were very disappointed, there is a dog meat market. Not everyone considers canines as companion animals, but rather, as a means to profit. Sadly, dogs go missing all the time in Vietnam, and families can’t help but wonder what happened to their beloved friends.

Every year, five million dogs are stolen from their homes or taken to the streets to be slaughtered for human food. And Vietnam kills more dogs for meat than any other country in Southeast Asia. That’s exactly why Humane Society International is doing its best to close dog slaughterhouses.

In fact, earlier this month, international humanitarian society managed to locate a slaughterhouse, shut it down and save 18 beautiful babies from someone’s plate. The slaughterhouse has slaughtered 10-15 dogs a day for the past 5 years. But the owner had a change of heart, willing to hand over his remaining dogs and close the door forever.

“I know in my heart that it is wrong to kill and eat dogs, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to do so,” the owner said.

He said he feels that the dog meat trade is “bringing bad karma to his family” and he is relieved to be working with international humanitarian society. He is now the first former abattoir owner in Vietnam to join HSI’s . Models for the Change program, which save people from the disgusting and dangerous dog meat trade.

The dog meat trade poses not only a threat to dogs across the country, but also puts people at risk.

Phuong Tham, country director of Humane Society International in Vietnam, said: “The dog meat trade is not only incredibly cruel but also poses a serious risk to human health due to transmission. potentially deadly diseases such as rabies.

Now, all 18 dogs that have surrendered are destined for a future filled with love. First, they will receive the medical care they desperately need and then they will be sent to shelters. They will finally get to live the life they truly deserve!
