Activate PLUS SmartLane – continue to use emergency lanes on certain sections of highway until May 1

In anticipation of another high traffic wave on the highways from April 29 to May 1 with the end of the school and Labor Holiday holidays, PLUS has announced the continued activation of SmartLane at many different locations.

SmartLane, which temporarily opens emergency lanes at selected key sections of the road to increase lane capacity, was operational during the Raya festival in two sections, the first from the intersection. Port Dickson to the Seremban interchange northbound, between KM260.0 and KM263.1.

The second section is from the Senai Utara interchange to the Kulai interchange, heading north, from KM19.0 to KM27.0. Both SmartLane locations – which are also implemented in CNY – will remain active until May 1.

In addition to these two locations, PLUS has also identified other locations to activate SmartLane and these locations are located in the northbound section of Gua Tempurung to Gopeng between KM306.7 and KM297.0, Slim River to Sungkai in the direction north between KM367.3 and KM354.1 and Rawang to Sungai Buaya, again heading north, between KM439.9 and KM435.5.

However, PLUS COO Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi said that activating SmartLane at these locations is subject to traffic conditions and can only be done with police approval.

At SmartLane locations, highway users will be temporarily allowed to enter and use emergency lanes in select areas and will be redirected back to the normal lane to continue their journey. SmartLane locations can be identified through special SmartLane signs as well as the presence of traffic controllers stationed at designated locations.
