big news, American Airlines fan: You can get some serious bonus miles this month by booking a cruise.
American Airlines cruise ship on Monday launched a new promotion for 2 customers American Airlines AAdvantage miles for every dollar spent on travel fares (base price before taxes and fees). That’s double the regular offer of 1 mile per dollar spent.

For example, if you spend $8,000 on travel during the promotion period, you can earn up to 16,000 AAdvantage miles.
That’s some solid AAdvantage miles. Current value of TPG AAdvantage miles at 1.7 cents per mile, which means 16,000 miles would be worth $272 according to our valuation.
In other words, those 16,000 miles could get you two free flights in the contiguous United States and Canada when booking miles with AAdvantage’s lowest award rate of 7,500 miles per ticket.
A chance to double dip
The double miles offer is part of a larger promotion this month at American Airlines Cruises called America’s Biggest Cruise Sale that offers additional savings and perks in some cases , depending on the cruise you book (in addition to any savings the cruise lines are offering).

Plus, you can get even more miles if you book your trip using American Airlines AAdvantage credit card. As always when you book through American Airlines Cruises, you can earn 1 additional AAdvantage mile for every dollar spent on travel with your American Airlines AAdvantage card.
That means you can score up to 3 miles for every dollar spent on travel fares with this new promotion. That would be 24,000 AAdvantage miles for an $8,000 trip.
Note that you must act quickly to receive bonus miles. Accelerated Mileage Offer only available through June 28. This offer applies to new bookings for cruises scheduled between Tuesday, June 11, 2024 and December 31, 2025.
Details of bonus miles offer
Unlike some airlines’ frequent flyer programs for cruises, this new miles offer is available to customers who book any type of cabin or suite – not just higher class cabins.
Among the things to note: Award miles are earned per cabin and are awarded to only one passenger per cruise booking. To qualify, customers must book through American Airlines Cruise Portal.

Additionally, the number of miles customers receive from the promotion is calculated based on the total cruise purchase price, excluding port fees, port charges, taxes and insurance.
Other fine print:
- There is no limit to the number of miles you can earn.
- An American Airlines AAdvantage number must be provided prior to boarding.
- Miles are credited to the member’s account six to eight weeks after the trip ends.
- Cruises must be paid for in US currency.
- AAdvantage members will earn Loyalty Points for base miles earned when booking American Airlines Cruises but will not receive bonus miles earned during the promotional period.
Which credit card should I use to make a reservation?
You can maximize your purchases by using an American Airlines AAdvantage credit card, such as Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® (see exchange rates and fees). As noted above, it will help you earn bonus miles when booking travel through American Airlines Cruises. This card is currently offering 100,000 bonus miles after you spend $10,000 on purchases in the first three months your account is open.
If you don’t have an American Airlines card, it’s best to use one The card earns bonus points on cruises. A good choice is Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, earn 2 points per dollar spent on travel, including cruises. Currently, you can earn 75,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of opening your account.
