Henry, a seasoned animal rescuer, encountered a dog in poor condition. The poor dog, later named Dennis, lay there, too weak to move. As Henry put it, he met Dennis “on the worst day of his life.” Henry picked him up, he and his partner took him to the emergency vet.
The vet suspected the dog was hit by a shovel. Who could be so cruel?! The vet has asked to rest in the crate for a few weeks so his leg can heal. During the healing process, Henry spent time with Dennis, assuring the abused dog that there was a lot of love in the world.
Soon, Dennis was able to walk slowly and find a foster home with a wonderful mother named Danielle. Though Denny (his new adorable nickname) has suffered at the hands of a human, he has showered his friends and adoptive mother with a puppy smile and tail wag.
But Denny is not easy on strangers. That’s where his injury comes into play. He will growl and warn them not to come near. Henry wants to visit the puppy and see how it is. He took clear direction from Danielle. He was worried that Denny wouldn’t remember him and treat Henry like a stranger. Henry doesn’t approach Denny and calls him by his first name.
