Watch the dog food commercial from 1981 that Tom starred in
There are some people who are known for their distinctive voice and it has become a trademark.
Included in that list of individuals are many heavyweights, such as Morgan Freeman and Samuel L Jackson.
Another famous singer with a rocky voice is Tom Waits. He was primarily known for his jazz and blues music but in 1981 he decided to do something different and voiced a dog food commercial.
The Butchers Blend dog food commercial got a little better, thanks to his unique vocals. It sounds interesting, but it’s also the only time you get to hear it.
Waits admitted that at the time, he was feeling unlucky and needed some cash. He also loves dogs, so it shouldn’t be too difficult for him to take a walk in this particular wilderness.
Here’s the script from the video:
“As the dog travels around the world envied and often tempted by humans, one thing, above all, tempts him most is… the taste of meat! And that’s why Purina created Butcher’s Blend. Butcher’s Blend is the first dry dog food that comes in three delicious meat flavors. Beef, liver, ‘n’ bacon. All in one bag. So rescue your dog from the world full of temptations. The World of Butcher’s Blend. The first dry dog food with three meat flavors. ”
Of course, that’s really unfair since you really have to hear that for yourself.
