Weather

A strong low center crosses the Columbia River. Oregon receives high winds. Washington does not. All explained in my new Podcast. Plus, Lots of Rain and Snow on Monday.

On Sunday morning, a strong low will pass the Columbia bars near Astoria. (see above sea level wind and pressure forecast at 10 p.m. Saturday).

The Oregon coast will experience gusts of up to 70 mph, while the central Washington coast and Puget Sound will experience only a slight breeze.

Why the difference? I explain why in my podcast. And I also talk about the upcoming modestly atmospheric river (see moisture transport forecast below at 5pm Monday), which will bring heavy rain and snow for the Olympics and the North Cascades.

Transport of moisture late Monday afternoon (red and white indicate bulk)

Total rainfall for the 48 hours through 5 a.m. Wednesday, heavy snowfall due to terrain and heavy rain around Sequim and Port Townsend.
