A story of courage, faith and the fight against animal cruelty

We are fighting a multi-million dollar industry that will do anything to prevent the secrets of animal cruelty from being exposed. Our monthly supporters fund investigators who risk their lives every day to expose the truth. By becoming a monthly donor, you can help us continue our mission of creating a world where animals are treated with kindness and compassion. Now is the time.

Letter from Sharon Núñez, President & Co-Founder of Animal Equality:

It’s 2011. As fireworks outside mark the Spanish holiday of San Juan, I sit in my dark cell and consider my next move.

I was tracked for months, my phone tapped and my family harassed. I know this moment could come, but I’m willing to risk everything.

On my way to filming a slaughterhouse in Madrid, I was caught by the police in Madrid and imprisoned in Northern Spain. For five days, I considered the possibility of a long prison sentence. And in five days, my resolve grew stronger and stronger.

You see, when I co-founded Animal Equality in 2006, my mission was to expose cruelty on factory farms and slaughterhouses. Our investigations became national news, sparking outrage across the country.

It’s the livestock industry’s worst nightmare. To bury the footage we recorded, they resorted to intimidation, harassment and legal action.

Fortunately, their tactics backfired.

Five days later, after protesters around the world called for my release, I reappeared with Animal Equality co-founder Jose Valle and two other activists. When the sun shines on our faces, we know that our work has only just begun.

We are against a strong industry. Meat, egg and dairy facilities are deliberately hidden from the public eye and they will do anything to prevent their secrets from coming out.

These are facilities like Summit Calf Ranch in Nebraska, where investigators found Calf 1578 lying motionless, hooves detached from his feet.

And it includes the dairy facility in Mexico, where our Latin American Vice President Dulce Ramírez captured the famous photograph of a crying newborn calf calling for its mother.

That’s why thousands of people joined Love Vegetarianism replace meat, dairy and eggs with delicious, sustainable and ethical alternatives. Together, we are improving our food system while helping both humans and animals.

LIVE HAPPILY

With a rich love life and unbreakable family ties, pets deserve protection. You can build a kinder world by replacing animal food products with plant-based products.

It’s also why our undercover investigators refuse to be intimidated by industry repression.

You may wonder why I am so confident that we can win this war for animals. The source of this confidence is our monthly supporters.

Monthly supporters are the glue that holds all activities together. They fund investigators who risk their lives every day to expose a multi-billion dollar industry.

They fund our legal counsel as they prosecute animal abusers in the courtroom and hold companies accountable to the law.

And that’s why media outlets like CNN, the New York Times, El Pais and the BBC have broadcast our footage around the world.

You’ve probably heard someone say, “Not all heroes wear capes.” This statement could not be more accurate.

Our supporters come from all walks of life, but they have one thing in common: repression has only made them more determined, more confident, and more eager to protect animals.

I have a feeling that can describe you.

If this corruption makes your blood boil like mine, now is the time to stand up. By providing our investigators, legal counsel, and corporate outreach team with the resources they need to do their jobs, you’ll show the industry that you value ethics more its huge profits.

But there’s no time to waste.

At this moment, a newborn calf is being torn from its mother and dragged to an empty barn. Another, too weak to stand, is being thrown into a pile to die or being slaughtered. And a mother cow, just separated from her calves, is being fed again.

Time is running out for these animals

Will you keep us in the field?

Consider becoming a monthly fundraiser for Animal Equality and help create a world where animals are treated with kindness and compassion. Your support can help us continue to propose and campaign to change the law and expose atrocities on factory farms, ultimately making a positive difference in the lives of people. all animals.
