A powerful way to change focus with Photoshop and AI filters
Have you ever had to take a photo at f/11 while wishing you were shooting at f/1.8? If you’ve ever wanted to change the depth of field of a photo, you know that creating a depth map isn’t the easiest thing. Instead of struggling to create the perfect depth map in Adobe Photoshop, using selections and brushes, this video walks you through a simpler path.
In this video, Colin Smith from photoshopCAFE takes us through a sequence of steps in Photoshop to create an image with perfectly customizable depth of field. As a result you can choose which areas of the image are in focus, which areas are out of focus, and just how much of each area you want – a very powerful result.
On the way to the final image, Colin shows you how to do a few things to clean up and refine the depth map. Advanced users may be familiar with these processes, but for newbies, this is a good demonstration of how it works from start to finish. You learn about using neural filters, depth maps, selection tools, levels, channels, and Lens Blur filters.
