“A few hours after Liddell [Power Station] Closed, AEMO… Market Notice Issued” – Watts Up With That?

Essays by Eric Worrall

Life without coal? Within hours of the Liddell Coal Plant’s last closure, permanently removing 10% of New South Wales’ basic load capacity, a notice of a shortage of stored electricity was issued.

Hilights from videos;

“A few hours after the Liddell Closed, AEMO, the Australian Energy Market Operator, issued a Electricity Market Notice, forecasting a shortage of reserve energy supply, tier one, New South Wales.”

“I can tell you right now that not a single one of your viewers has seen their electricity prices drop.”

“The reality is coming, the light you see in the distance Peta, it’s the train of reality running everywhere with us, and as you said, AEMO has issued a warning notice about the reserve. , there is not enough there”

“What can a battery of that size do? – First, it doesn’t exist, so it’s nothing. But secondly, if they manage to build it, then from the reports that I have seen, it has a capacity of 2GWh. Actual capacity in hours in MW is an important part. So if it has a max capacity of 500MW, it could run for 4 hours at 500MW, to replace about 1300MW of good, reliable coal-fired power running 24×7. These are not numbers. hard for you to think… I’ve looked at all the solar farms in NSW, assuming you have 4 hours of good sunlight, they won’t be able to charge the batteries either.”

“…No reliability for intermittent wind and sun…”

“What is the latest information about the gas cap? — Well, this is just another chaos, I mean communism 101, from what I can see of the current proposal, it depends on two ministers, Madeleine King and Chris Bowen, to decide if they like your gas company… We’ve seen the Japanese Ambassador yelling about sovereign risk…”

Good to see my local MP Keith Pitt Pick up the ball on Net Zero and recreate it. We at WUWT were disappointed in 2021, when Pitt was as silent as his party leader then openly supported Net Zeroin a desperate attempt to save some of their useless inner-city “conservative” colleagues in federal election 2022. That last-minute green posturing didn’t convince anyone, the Conservative seats they tried to save were mostly in Conservative hands. teal green (well funded green independence).

Unfortunately, despite these warnings and common sense, I now believe Australia will be inevitable. green energy wall WUWT described a few days ago. Unless there is a radical change, of course, sometime before the end of the decade, Australia begins to experience blackouts on the scale of South Africa.

Even if there is a desperate last-minute awakening, an attempt to prevent the closure of Australia’s remaining coal plants, nothing will be left to salvage.

None of the legacy fossil fuel power plants are properly maintained. Australia’s ‘reliable’ energy infrastructure is no longer reliable, all plants are up and running, by owners who believe fossil fuel energy has no future in green Australia. In my opinion, the recent introduction of a carbon tax by the Australian government only stamps their fate.
