It’s sad to see an abandoned dog. Sadly, it happens more often than we’d like to think.
A dog in Bakersfield, California, who is known to have chased pickup trucks along the way, thinking they were his owners is turning around for him.
It’s heartbreaking to think about how this little dog was dumped at a truck stop, and he can’t understand why his owners let him fall to such a fate.
The puppy, later named Weston, was discovered by a guest at the motel across the street. The person felt bad for the abandoned puppy, so they called Safefurr Place Rescue to come and retrieve the lost dog. That’s when Danny gets the help call and goes out to answer it.
When Danny arrived at the scene, he was told that Weston had been living at the truck station for about three months. The lifeguard said Weston was friendly and certainly enjoyed being fed, but he was still pretty slippery to catch.
Even animal control was unsuccessful in capturing the pooch. But Danny remained undaunted – even his first few attempts to capture Weston were unsuccessful.
Danny tried to tether Weston, but the sly dog turned away from him and took off. Danny couldn’t find him anywhere. However, he continued his search into the night until he discovered him again.
This time, Weston didn’t want to go near him for fear of being caught. That’s understandable, so Danny is still determined to find a way to rescue Weston from life on the streets.
With a little help from one of the motel guests, Danny was finally able to get Weston off the street and into care. Now all that sweet pooch needs is a forever home to call her own.
