Turf Monster Over Pulled
The $250,000 Turf Monster Stakes (G3T) has attracted an oversubscribed crowd for a five-furlong race on the turf despite criticism of the track this summer led by Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Association president Bob Hutt and a suspension of racing on it from late August until this week. A review of the track by the Department of Horse Racing Safety and Integrity and other officials earlier this month noted that the depressions had been filled with growing medium, even though the track was “significantly lacking in moisture” at the time. Track officials attributed this to the track’s irrigation system being broken at the time. Parx officials told HISA that the track was back in operation on September 4 and the track has been aerated.
Top entries include Soup Mission , Jean Valjean And Register who won the Parx Dash on August 24, but was marred by a major Causes Trouble incident.
