Shares at Kilwin are offered at the Keeneland Championship Sale


Keeneland announces it will take a 25% stake in the unbeaten mare Kilwin winner of the $998,550 Untapable Stakes at Kentucky Downs September 8, will be sold at the first Keeneland Championship Auction, held the evening of October 30, at the training paddock in Del Marvenue for the Breeders’ Cup on November 1-2.

Held during Breeders’ Cup Championship Week, the Keeneland Championship Auction offers an unprecedented opportunity to experience the excitement of horse ownership while participating in one of the world’s most spectacular horse racing events.

Kilwin, owned by BBN Racing and trained by Rusty Arnold, is scheduled to compete in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) on November 1. A graduate of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Kilwin is unbeaten in two career starts, winning on his debut at Ellis Park July 27 before her win at Untapable.

Part ownership of Kilwin will be transferred to Championship Sale by Royal Oak Farm (Damian and Braxton Lynch), agents. Braxton Lynch is a founding partner of BBN Racing and a racing manager.

“Our plan is to have Kilwin race with her new mate throughout her career and when we retire her to breed, we will sell her at Keeneland as a breeding mare prospect,” Klatsky said.

Via Candy spinner Kilwin comes from an active family and is the third winner of her dam, Spanish Star via Blame Her 3-year-old half-sister won the race. Just sunbathe who finished third in the Alabama Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Track August 17. Kilwin’s half-brother One hour won the 2022 Franklin-Simpson Stakes (G2T) at Kentucky Downs and has an income of more than $900,000.

Horses may be entered into the Keeneland Championship Auction prior to the auction by contacting the Keeneland sales team who will provide entry services. The Keeneland Championship Auction category will feature horses entered in Breeders’ Cup or Breeders’ Cup races; may include full or partial ownership, bloodlines closely related to World Championship contenders, and share breeding or breeding rights in stallions.

Due to the close proximity of the sale to the Breeders’ Cup races, all catalogued horses will be offered remotely but will be available for inspection by appointment with the sellers at their respective locations. Video of each hip will also be available to potential buyers.
