Kia opens new APAC training centre in Glenmarie – fifth global centre after Germany, US, Russia and UAE

You may not know it, but Kia’s Asia-Pacific headquarters is in Kuala Lumpur, which is why it’s no surprise that the company opened an APAC training center in Glenmarie. The facility is the Korean automaker’s fifth global training center, joining Germany, Russia, the UAE and the United States.

Kia said the new center will “take the lead in promoting a culture of innovation and exemplary service across the APAC region,” adding that it will provide its subsidiaries and distributors’ operations, sales and after-sales staff with the comprehensive skills and knowledge needed in the automotive industry.

“Malaysia was chosen out of our 34 markets in APAC because of its strategic location, allowing us to meet the changing needs of the industry while keeping our teams at the forefront of technological advancements,” said Kevin Ahn, president and CEO of Kia Motors Asia Pacific. “Malaysia’s diverse talent pool and strong language proficiency further cemented it as the ideal choice for our training centre.”

The facility is equipped with high-tech demonstration classrooms for theory teaching, full practical workshops, a computerized vehicle resource center, virtual repair simulators and specialized tools such as diagnostic equipment. Students will also have access to the latest Kia models such as EV6, EV9 and coming soon EV5 And EV3 for practical training.

Kia added that the training center’s facilities and training methods reflect Hyundai Motor Group’s global standards and the center’s location next to Top 3S center provide learners with direct exposure to real-world situations.

Participants will receive certification from Kia APAC upon completion of the program, validating their skills and expertise within the company’s global network. The training center – which “marks a significant milestone in Kia’s expansion in the region,” the company said – can accommodate up to 80 trainees at any one time. Kia aims to train up to 3,000 people a year to support all 34 markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
