With Gravity three-row SUV nearing production stage, Discerning has given the world its first look at another SUV in the works. The silhouetted machine doesn’t have an official name yet, but Lucid has shared some interesting details and images that show off more than we expected.
There’s no mistaking this new SUV for anything but a Lucid, with its rounded corners and distinct vent-like indentations on each side of the hood. But it looks a lot curvier than the pebble-like Air and the Gravity could be considered a minivan. The roof drops back, and the rear haunches look much more exaggerated than any current Lucid. It’s likely to be a two-row SUV, not only because of its smaller size but also because of its low rear roofline.
Details are scarce, of course, but during the company’s Technology and Manufacturing Day presentation, there were hints of what to expect from the new SUV. It will use an all-new engine and transmission called Map. Lucid claims it’s significantly more compact, reducing packaging needs and claiming improved efficiency over its current products. They also note that it will have around 335 horsepower. It will be used in Lucid’s mid-size products, but could also appear in lower-end versions of both the Air and Gravity.
In the presentation, it was mentioned that it will launch in late 2026, possibly revealing it sometime next year. We expect LA Auto Show is a strong candidate for this launch. Moreover, this SUV will have a starting price of under $50,000.
As for the name, it remains a mystery. Lucid has filed a trademark application. not long ago for the name “Earth.” That would be a name that fits with elemental nomenclature like Air and Gravity. So keep an eye out for a new Lucid sometime next year.
