Volvo C40 Recharge P8 AWD put to the test in Shah Alam, Malaysia – CKD EV coming soon?

The Rechargeable Volvo C40 has been tested in Malaysia, suggesting that the official launch date may be near. These two Volvo C40 Recharges were seen parked in Bukit Jelutong yesterday by electric car enthusiast readers @ECOmodepassion.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen Volvo cars tested in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam – we’ve seen them before S60 is being tested in the area.

It’s basically a sportier coupe version of the XC40. It has a more dynamic rear end, but retains the same face. The face you see here looks different from what we usually see on the XC40 currently on the Malaysian road, but XC40 facelift will share the same face with this C40.

Even though these C40 units have badges on the back, it’s not hard to tell that this is an all-electric all-wheel-drive P8 model as it’s the only model the C40 is currently offered. , which differs from the XC40 in that there are both electric front-wheel drive P6 and AWD P8 models as well as petrol hybrid and plug-in models.

The dual engines produce 408 PS and 660 Nm of torque, drawing power from a 78 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides an estimated range of 420 km based on WLTP standards. In terms of performance, the C40 has a 0-100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the XC40.

We expect the C40 to be more expensive than the XC40, but we don’t know by how much. If we refer to the Thai price, the XC40 costs 2.59 million baht while the C40 costs 2.75 million baht, so that’s less than 10% of the higher price. Just like the XC40, we expect the C40 to be offered as a CKD model in Malaysia.
