Breeders’ Cup Limited and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will present an exciting undercard program on November 1-2 as part of the 2024 Breeders’ Cup World Championship, it was announced today. Eight races with total prize money and prizes totaling more than $1.5 million will be offered as part of the undercard, with travel incentives available. Owners and trainers of undercard race participants will receive race-day seating, parking and a host of other premium benefits.
Five side races on the November 1 program will support Future Stars on Friday, highlighted by the $200,000 Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at 1 mile on turf, and the $200,000 Senator Ken Maddy Stakes for fillies and mares, 2-year-olds and older at 5 furlongs on turf; and two California stallion stakes races on the main track with the $175,000 Golden State Juvenile Fillies for 2-year-old fillies at 7 furlongs, and the $175,000 Golden State Juvenile for 2-year-old fillies, also at 7 furlongs.
There will be three side races on Saturday’s November 2 Championship program, led by the $200,000 Bayakoa Stakes (G3) for mares and colts, 3 years old and up, over 1 mile on the main track, and the $300,000 Goldikova Stakes presented by Yaamava’ Resort & Casino (G3) for mares and colts, 3 years old and up, over 1 mile on turf.
Like the 14 world championship races, all eight side races will be conducted drug-free.
Final racing order and entry deadline for both Friday and Saturday programs will be announced on Wednesday, October 23. Nomination deadline for all minor events will close on October 24 at the Del Mar Racing Office.
