Chery Omoda E5 Price and Specifications

Chery’s Australia’s first all-electric car – Omoda E5 SUV – will hit showrooms this month, priced to compete with rivals from GROUP, BYD And GWM.

The new Omoda E5 will start from $42,990 before on-road costs for the base BX, it’s $1000 more expensive than the MG 4 Excite 64.

At the top end, the E5 EX will cost $45,990 before on-road costs, which is more expensive than the base version. BYD Atto 3 and MG 4 Essence, but cheaper than Atto 3 Extended Range.

All E5 versions get a single front-mounted electric motor, producing 150kW of power and 340Nm of torque.

The E5 has a range of 430km on the WLTP cycle, thanks to a 61.1kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery that can be charged at up to 80kW using a DC fast charger.

Deliveries will begin soon.

The Omoda E5 comes with Chery’s seven-year, unlimited-mileage warranty, similar to other vehicles in its class.

Chery has yet to confirm service intervals and pricing for the E5.

Safety

The Chery Omoda E5 has yet to receive a safety rating from ANCAP or its European counterpart Euro NCAP.

However, Chery Australia CEO Lucas Harris recently told Australian media that “the car doesn’t currently have an ANCAP rating, but that will happen soon”.

“It is reasonable to assume that this ranking will continue the current trend for the cars we have launched so far,” he said.

Color

The Chery Omoda E5 comes in five exterior colors to choose from.

Titan Green is the base color for the new model, available at no extra cost, while other ‘premium’ finishes cost $500.

Additionally, EX models painted in Titan Green or Lunar White can be equipped with a contrasting black roof for $600.
