Hello PlayStation fans! As we celebrate the upcoming release this Friday of Astronomy botTeam Asobi’s tribute to 30 years of iconic PlayStation characters, stories, and magical moments, we want to thank you for your love and passion for PlayStation. Your unwavering support has made the past three decades possible. While PlayStation’s 30th anniversary is still a few months away, today we’re excited to share some of the ways we’ll be celebrating this milestone with you all.
Explore nostalgic tributes to the original Gran Turismo, enjoy digital soundtracks from classic PlayStation games, and create moments of joy with our new “Shapes of Play” collection – these are just some of the ways we invite you to join our community celebration, which kicks off this month.
And for all those eager to get into Astro Bot, we’re excited to share a first look at the 30th anniversary photo opportunity located at the heart of the game, where the Bots you’ve saved throughout your space adventures will gather, ready to dance to your stylish moves.
An early look at what’s to come
- My first GT. This holiday, expect a free trial designed to appeal to players of all skill levels in the globally acclaimed Gran Turismo 7. This upcoming release will feature some of the most beloved cars, tracks, and racing events that evoke the nostalgia and excitement of the first GT experience. Stay tuned for more details on My First GT, available to all PS5 and PS4 players this holiday.

- Digital game soundtrack. In partnership with Sony Music, each month from October to January, we will release a digital soundtrack from fan-favorite PlayStation franchises for the first time on Spotify. You will be able to stream the following game soundtracks on Spotify or purchase them on a variety of digital music stores, including Amazon Music, Apple Music, and participating music retailers:
- God of War
- God of War II
- God of War: Ghost of Sparta
- Twisted Metal
- Eagle star
- Unit 13

- The shape of the game. The new “Shapes of Play” product collection, created by the PlayStation console design team, gives you the opportunity to create fun moments with our iconic shapes:
- Gameplay: Battle is a board game where you can challenge your friends to line up four different shapes of the same color on the board to win.
- Game Shape: Create is a set of magnetic blocks that you can place in any direction to create interesting shapes.
- Game Format: Recharge allows you to experience a new way to recharge between games, especially after difficult boss battles.
Shapes of Play will launch in December 2024, exclusively through live.playstation.com in the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Benelux. Pre-orders start later today exclusively via direct.playstation.com.

- Free online multiplayer and esports tournaments every weekend. Join us later this month for a free online multiplayer weekend and exciting esports tournaments! To celebrate the amazing online games and communities on PlayStation, we’re hosting a free online multiplayer weekend on September 21 and 22.* During those days, you can enjoy online multiplayer for games you own without a PlayStation Plus membership, on PS5 and PS4.

During the same week, we’ll be hosting a series of PS5 esports tournaments, featuring titles like NBA 2K24, NBA 2K25, Madden NFL 24, MLB The Show 24, EA UFC 5, Tekken 8, and Guilty Gear Strive. If you own any of these games and are eligible, you can enter on September 21 and 22 to win a special 30th anniversary-themed avatar and other game-specific prizes. PS5 players can sign up via the Game Hub or the PlayStation Tournaments button in-game. Keep an eye out for compete.playstation.com for all the details about the upcoming tournament.
