Speed Read: A Futuristic Motorcycle Concept From Bandit9 And More

The latest concept motorcycles, cafe racers, custom bikes and classic bikes.
A strange new one Bandit9’s creations hit our pages this week, followed by a BMW K100RS from the heart of Bavaria and a quirky Indian FTR 1200 superbike. Finally, a boxed-up Harley-Davidson Sportster that reminds us of a time when Sporties were air-cooled and affordable.

Bandit9's EVE Odyssey Futuristic Motorcycle Concept
EVE Odyssey by Bandit9 Sleek, streamlined, and very, very sleek – these are the hallmarks of Daryl Villanueva and his team at Bandit9. This is the latest evolution of their ‘EVE’ custom bike series—the Bandit9 EVE Odyssey. More a rolling work of art than a motorcycle, the new EVE Odyssey is a testament to Daryl’s singular vision.

Since its launch in 2013, Daryl and his team have worked hard to perfect its design and crafting. The EVE Odyssey features some major updates over previous EVE builds, but is still instantly recognizable as a Bandit9 creation. The bullet-shaped silhouette is on full display, but has been enhanced with new components and a completely new frame design.

“By creating our own frame, we’re not relying on anyone’s pre-existing structure,” Daryl explains. “This isn’t a custom, modified product. This is a completely new product.”

Black cast alloy wheels contrast nicely with the aluminum bodywork and roll under custom front and rear suspension settings. Custom handlebars and controls ride between the aluminum panels, with an LED headlight up front. The seat is just big enough for a decent sized butt, and the taillight is seamlessly integrated into the bodywork.

Powered by a 125cc engine, the EVE Odyssey may not be about raw power, but the sub-270lbs weight certainly adds to the experience. A Mikuni carburetor feeds fuel from a 3.17-gallon tank into the engine well enough to reach a top speed of 68mph.

The minimalist design is clean and purposeful, but it’s the attention to detail that really stands out—every curve and angle is meticulously crafted, conveying a sense of speed even when the bike is stationary. It’s cool to see the bikes displayed in an art gallery, but it’s even cooler to see them on city streets. [Bandit9]

Woidwerk Custom BMW K100RS
BMW K100RS by Woidwerk Creating a custom bike that is both impressive and comfortable for someone over six feet tall is no easy task. But when a customer comes back to show off their 1985 bike, BMW K100RS and a simple summary—build a coffee racing car With the iconic BMW M color scheme—Ralf Eggl of Woidwerk couldn’t say no.

With the customer’s height in mind, Ralf started with the suspension. The stock front forks were swapped out for new Kawasaki Z1000 units and the rear suspension was upgraded with Öhlins.

The rear suspension was extended by 1.5 inches—again, to accommodate the customer’s stature. To complete the wheelchair frame, the wheels are painted in a unique, two-tone finish.

Next, a BMW R1200RS handlebar is mounted to the modified upper fork clamp, with a Motogadget Motoscope mini speedo tucked inside. Lighting the way is a KOSO Thunderbolt headlight, shielded by a custom windshield. The Z1000’s Brembo radial front brakes provide stopping power up front, with fully adjustable ABM rearsets taking advantage of the factory rear brake.

The rear of the bike is the most extensive yet. Inspired by the iconic Ferrari Testarossa, Ralf has built a custom steel tail section from an old R100RS, slimmed down and shortened. It now houses the battery and ECU, with a special fin for added flair. A side-mounted Woidwerk license plate holder keeps the bike legal while maintaining the bike’s clean lines.

The stock engine was left untouched but upgraded with a freshly painted engine cover and a new Unit Garage exhaust that Ralf lengthened and modified to fit. A custom-made intercooler was cleverly hidden under the fuel tank to clean up the silhouette.

Finishing touches include a seat upholstered in a mix of Alcantara and leather, mounted on a laminated fiberglass panel for comfort and style. The ignition barrel is relocated to a holder crafted from red acrylic glass, adding a final touch of color.

The result is a bike that retains the classic cafe racer aesthetic while still meeting the unique needs of a high-rider. If someone threw this Flying Brick through our living room window, we’d be mad—but parked in our garage, it’d be awesome. [Woidwerk]

Indian Superbike FTR 1200 by Trail Découverte Concept
Indian FTR 1200 by Trail Découverte Concept Greg Loaec and his company, Trail Découverte Concept, have been modifying and tweaking mountain bikes for years. We’re big fans of their Suzuki V-Strom race bikes, so when we heard they were moving on to the Indian FTR 1200, we were intrigued.

Greg built a custom FTR 1200 of India for the Wheels and Waves festival and liked it so much that he decided he needed one of his own. Using the 2023 Indian FTR 1200 Rally as a base, he’s transformed it into a sleek supercar that is both smart and crazy

Starting with the wheels, Greg swapped out the stock rims for 17-inch Supermoto rims wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa Rosso IV tires. Then, a set of custom Andreani fork tubes and a custom-designed EMC rear shock were added, both of which raised the bike’s ride height and improved suspension performance. These changes gave the bike a higher center of gravity, which, combined with the supermoto wheels, sharpened the frame and allowed Greg to get the most out of the FTR’s 120 horsepower.

Greg didn’t hold back on the aesthetics either. The front and rear panels and motard-style air vents are custom-made from carbon fiber and finished in a striking orange powder coat.

Pro Taper handlebars are bolted on, along with Gilles Tooling adjustable rearsets, carbon fork guards and a carbon front fender. The handguards are matched with integrated LED indicators from SW Motech, and the sound is provided by a high-mounted Akrapovič exhaust.

The end result is a unique V-twin supermotard that stands out both in looks and performance, showcasing Greg’s ability to push the boundaries of the Indian FTR 1200. We love seeing professional bike builders take on personal projects, and Greg has done a great job on this one. [Source]

Harley-Davidson Sportster 0 miles
Harley-Davidson Sportster 0 miles By all accounts, the new Harley Davidson Sportster S is a fine bike—though it lacks the charm of the now-discontinued Evolution Sportster. So if you’re a purist and can’t bring yourself to buy a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected Sporty, this could be the opportunity of a lifetime.

This is a new car, 0 miles 2003 Harley-Davidson Sportster XL883 Custom 100th Anniversary Edition. Not only has the bike never been ridden, it has never been taken out of the shipping crate it was packaged in in Milwaukee. The gas tank has never been filled, the battery has never been connected—and it even has the original plastic protective film and foam protector on the tank.

Harley-Davidson Sportster 0 miles
Aside from the use of a single carburetor instead of fuel injection, the overall aesthetic of this 20-year-old Harley isn’t much different from the previous air-cooled Sporty, which was discontinued in 2021. The pearl white tank on this bike has a 100th Anniversary Edition badge that matches the plaque below the integrated handlebar indicators—one of the few things that separates this bike from the thousands of Sportsters produced over the years.

We’ll never know why this bike didn’t make it to the road, and it may just be the only brand-new, zero-mile Sportster outside of the Harley-Davidson museum collection. We’re firm believers in using motorcycles for their intended purpose, but this would certainly be a cool thing to have in the shed to show off to your friends. [Source]
